October Hippie By Paulo Coelho

In HIPPIE, his most autobiographical novel to date, Paulo Coelho takes us back in time to re-live the dream of a generation that longed for peace and dared to challenge the established social order - authoritarian politics, conservative modes of behavior, excessive consumerism, and an unbalanced concentration of wealth and power.

If you are one of the millions of readers who have come to love Paulo Coelho for his thought provoking, life affirming and to some even life changing books, you will not be disappointed by Hippie. It gives a window onto a bygone era of freedom pursued and boundaries tested, and the status quo challenged by a generation of youth that refused to be defined by their parents and society at large. It does so in a very personal way – this is more autobiography than fiction after all, meaning you will also get a glimpse into the formative years of the young man who later became the wise sage most famous for The Alchemist. A young man who experienced the joys and sorrows of romantic love, which lead him to the crossroad of a difficult choice. This book is very different to any of Coelho's other books, but still thoroughly enjoyable.
