In 2003, a poll was conducted in Norway for the 100 most important literary books in history that are suitable for all times and help in shaping human consciousness. International writers participated in this survey, and the results were announced at the Nobel Institute. Franz Kafka was the only writer whose books were selected among the 100 books Kafka influenced many international writers, including the contemporary German writer Martin Wallers, whose doctoral thesis topic was "Franz Kafka's Narrative Form." His narrative attempts at that stage were greatly influenced by Kafka's style. The Nobel laureate Saramago admired Kafka and said that he is his own writer and that he is one of the greatest writers in the history of literature, as the Japanese writer and his future writings indicate. Theatre, cinema, television, radio, music and painting, and presenting them in a variety of ways through these arts.
